A question we are frequently asked by parents/carers is “How can I support my child?” It is understandable that some of you may worry that you might be teaching your child ‘the wrong way’.
We believe that any engagement from parents/carers with their child’s learning adds an incredible amount of value and we always value the work and support that you offer at home.
Over time, teaching methods can change. Through use of the White Rose Maths Scheme, at Haughton School, children are able to learn through concrete and pictorial opportunities before moving onto abstract maths.

Maths with Michael
White Rose Maths have teamed up with TV presenter, teacher and parent Michael Underwood to bring you a mini-series called Maths with Michael. This series is designed as a guide to provide information on current teaching methods and will help you to support your child.
Episodes will give you an introduction to place value, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions and algebra and each episode comes with a parent guide. It is an excellent opportunity to see the methods which we use in school.
