Haughton School

Pioneer Centre Residential - Group 2

Day 1 – Wednesday

Group 2 arrived safely, unpacked their bags and made their beds.

All children enjoyed caving - they were very brave!  Class 10 children enjoyed abseiling and ziplining in the afternoon, while Class 11 children practised their archery skills.

We then had some free time before tucking into our tasty dinner!

After dinner, all the children came together for a campfire. Because of the weather we had our campfire inside, but that didn’t stop us from singing campfire songs as loud as we could and playing campfire games! The children’s favourite was the crowning of the banana king and queen!

All children slept through the night!

Day 2 – Thursday

Everyone enjoyed their first delicious breakfast to set themselves up for a day full of activities!

Class 10 children started the day with raft building and then showed fantastic teamwork on the assault course. After lunch, they had a great time exploring the high ropes trek course before rock climbing. The adults were very impressed with all the children giving the climbing wall their best attempt and pushing themselves with each turn.

Class 11 began the day with adrenalin packed abseiling and the zipwire. They then borrowed the raft Class 11 had built to explore the lake before braving the cold water for a swim! In the afternoon, the children all had a go at the climbing wall and the adults were so impressed with how brave they were! They ended the day with some fun on the assault course.

In the evening, all the children visited the Pioneer centre shop and used their money to buy themselves a souvenir. We then had some free time where we had a movie with popcorn and hot chocolate! The children played games, watched the film, and enjoyed big bubbly baths before bed. All children went to bed like super stars again and it was another night of all children sleeping through!

Day 3 - Friday

In the morning we packed our bags before eating breakfast and the children did a great job of sorting their rooms and stripping their beds.

Class 10 showed off their great archery skills in the morning (some children got bullseyes!), whilst Class 11 had a go on the high ropes trek course. The children were so brave and cheered on their friends.

All the children then got together for the big bounce! Before our final lunch and goodbyes, our instructors handed out certificates to all the children. There were some extra special certificates for the children that had kept the tidiest bedroom and a child from each class for best participation, effort, and team player.

The children have all been absolute superstars and we are so proud of them all!!
