Parents & Carers

Parental role/ School support

‘Staff are approachable when you need to speak with them and willing to help and support.’

We believe that children are always more successful when parents and staff work together in their best interest. We ask parents to support the school by showing an interest in their child’s work and social development and ensuring that homework is completed carefully.

The Government requires that all schools provide a Home/School Contract and invite parents of pupils at the school to sign it.  A copy will be sent to you shortly after your child has started at Haughton.

The school operates a no smoking policy in line with guidance from Telford and Wrekin council.  We request that parents do not smoke on the school premises.

We are very experienced staff, who are able to provide advice and support on a whole range of issues.  We also liaise very closely with key professionals who may also be able to support you and your family.

‘We were a family in crisis but Haughton School has supported us and now we have a productive and happy family life – I cannot express the depth of gratitude I have to the staff at Haughton.’

We have regular coffee mornings on the last Friday in every month from 10am - 12pm, where parents/carers are able to pop into school and meet with other parents/carers and professionals.

We can offer specific Makaton training for parents.

We liaise closely with the team that deliver the Earlybirds and Earlybirds+ programme which is designed specifically to support parents/carers of children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders.

We have direct access to Speech and Language Therapists, an Occupational Therapist and a Physiotherapist to discuss your child’s individual needs and activities/support for home.

We have an open-door policy at Haughton, therefore if you have any concerns about your child’s progress or other issues, please contact us immediately and we will do our very best to ensure someone is available to speak to you that same day.
