Occupational Therapy Service

The role of the occupational therapist is to enable children to function to the best of their ability. The Occupational Therapist provides advice for children whose ability to carry out functional skills is compromised.

There are currently 2 Occupational Therapist who work with our school (Mark Willets & Andy Smith).

They visit our school regularly, currently on a fortnightly basis.

The time allocated to the school is directly linked to the level of need of the children and the number of children that meet the criteria to access the service.

The Occupational Therapist assesses and reviews the children, writes their therapy plans and meets with our staff to discuss the provision that will be provided for the children in order to address their identified needs.

The Occupational Therapist sees children who experience sensory processing and or complex neurological difficulties affecting their ability to complete daily tasks at school or home.

The children currently have their occupational therapy needs address in school by:

  • Provision within class
  • Attending small group withdrawal sessions led by school based Therapy Assistants
  • Attending individual withdrawal sessions led by school based Therapy Assistants
